The Green Flash, Hawaiian Sunset 3376

The "green flash" can be glimpsed before the last portion of the sun disappears over the horizon. It requires a very clear horizon. While in most places, it is a rare event, in Hawaii, it is quite common. The challenge to photographing the green flash is not overexposing it. I came close on this one, but it it still slightly overexposed, making the green appear slightly more yellowish than appeared to my eye. The "green flash" really is not a "flash." It is more like a blip as the last portion of the sun fades away.

Canon 300mm f/4 L IS lens at f/8, Canon 1D Mark II digital camera, ISO 100, 1/200 second, -1.3 stops.
