XRD_ANALYSIS:
40 kV-30 mA, 6.5-9.5 keV
File: mascag65.mdi (smear on quartz plate)
References: PDF2 #40-0660, 41-0621
Found: Mascagnite
Comments: Peaks are very sharp and some show excellent resolution of the
alpha1-alpha2 components. Search-match returned no satisfactory hits. PDF2
#40-0660 (synthetic (NH4)2SO4) matches the observed pattern; 41-0621, also a
synthetic ammonium sulfate, does not match as well. There is a severe discrepancy
in that the (200) reflection, at 3.89 Angstroms in mascag65, has relative
intensity eight times greater than in either reference pattern. Some peak
shoulders, for instance the (200), and split tips, as in the case of the (020)
and (111), are not explained by the PDF2 data.
