Obtaining Images or Prints (Price List)

Introduction

About this site, see the: Welcome page. This is a non-commercial site. I do not try and market my work. But by popular request, people want to buy my images. Below you can find general guides for obtaining free images to purchasing prints and digital files. I only stock a few prints as most requests these days are digital files. If you want a print that is not in stock, I make a custom one, and that takes a few days.

All images, text and data on this site are copyrighted.
They may not be used except by written permission from Roger N. Clark.

RESEACH AND EDUCATIONAL USE OF IMAGES FROM THIS WEB SITE

Web-based images may be used at no cost for non-profit educational school projects and non-profit research projects by requesting via email and or letter and including a description of the use of the requested image. Permission will generally be granted in these situations for images that will be used in good taste and if proper reference is given. No permission is implied: response by Roger N. Clark is required before such permission is granted. If there is no response to a request, there is no permission granted. No fee requests for larger images may be granted for other non-profit research and educational purposes on a case by case basis. This applies to digital files only; printed images will be at the cost below.

PRINTS

The prices below are for printed images for display purposes and are not for reproduction or publication purposes. Prices for publication will be negotiated on a case by case basis.

The price for a single unframed, unmatted, Lightjet 5000, Fuji Crystal Archive print excluding handling and shipping (sizes are approximate, and depend on the individual image). This is a photographic paper process, not an inkjet output. A color laser writes the image directly onto photographic paper, skipping the traditional enlargement step, giving the sharpest image transfer possible. For example, see The digital print advantage over traditional printing methods.

NOTE: selected images, such as prize winning or unique photographs may be priced higher than indicated below.

(Ilfochrome Classic archive prints are no longer available.)

While any of the above print sizes will show an impressive image, the suggested minimum print is the level of showing a really spectacular display, is extremely sharp, but resolves most of the detail in the image that gives it "snap." This is the detail level that large format begins to show what a person can see with their eyes at the scene; like "being there."

USE OF IMAGES BY ARTISTS FOR PAINTINGS

I am often contacted by artists wanting to paint my photographs or subjects within my photographs. Often these artists want free use of such images even though they intend to sell their paintings. At the present time I do not grant licenses for use of my images by painters. If this policy changes, this web page will reflect the change.

DON'T SEE THE IMAGE YOU WANT?

If you would like a style of image you have not found on this web site, send an inquiry to R. N. Clark. describing what you would like. I have tens of thousands of images. Topics of images range from the landscape, wildlife, and astronomical images you see prominently on this site to images in cities in North America, Europe, and Australia.
