Great Egret bringing a stick to the nest #3272

A great egret returns to the nest with another stick to build the nest in Florida. Note the feathers sticking up on the back of the wings. That is an indication the wings are in partial stall and the bird is sinking faster. Of course they master that stall and come to a perfect landing.

Canon 1D Mark IV 16-megapixel digital camera, 500 mm f/4 L IS lens at f/4, ISO 800 1/1600 second exposure, manual exposure in the early morning.

Wild and free. No calls or bait were used to acquire this image.
