Red-Tailed Hawk. Traveling along a back road at Bosque del Apache NWR, I had just finished imaging another hawk, when near the road I saw another one ahead. I had no time to put on the window mount nor stop and set up a tripod. So I grabbed the camera with the 500 mm +1.4x TC mounted and shot this image hand held from the car with the engine running. Image stabalization made this image possible. An enlargement to half of full resolution is shown below. Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge.
Technical:
Canon D60 camera, 500mm f/5.6 (500 mm f/4 IS lens +1.4x TC), 1/3000 sec at ISO 400,
handheld!
This is the full-frame uncropped image.
Wild and free. No calls or bait were used to acquire this image.
