After a day of horseback riding on Icelandic horses in the mountains less than 100 miles from the Arctic Circle, we were driving through a tunnel north of Hofn. When we emerged from the tunnel we were stunned by this amazing sunset. It was one of the reddest sunsets I have ever seen, and a surprise as the afternoon drive was dominated by thick clouds and heavy rain. There was a hint of an interesting sunset developing before the tunnel and many cars stopped to photograph it, but that location did not have the stunning mountain views of this location. During the 20 minutes of the developing sunset, not a single car passed us--they apparently stayed on the north side of the tunnel to watch the sunset there.
