House on Fire, Ancestral Puebloan Ruin

This is an ancient ancestral puebloan ruin, estimated at about 700 years old. In the morning, the ruin is in shade with the only light being from reflected light off the opposite side of the canyon and from the sky. A blue sky is best for the effect. The light from the canyon that reflects onto the ruin gives a double reflection enhancing the red color. It is located on the Colorado Plateau and many other ruins are in the area. This one has not been restored.

Technical. Canon 6D 20 megapixel digital camera, 24-105 mm f/4 L IS lens. Manual exposure: 1/40 sec at f/8, ISO 200. This is a 6-frame mosaic resulting in a 6784 x 5344 pixel image.
