The Twelve Apostles along Australia's Great Ocean Road is an iconic sight, especially at sunset at the right time of year. These sea stacks are up to 50 meters tall (160 feet) and were originally called the sow and pigs, or sow and piglets. They were renamed the 12 Apostles to attract tourists (!!!), even though there were never 12 stacks, only 9 at any one time, now 7. Even so they are spectacular, especially with a beautiful sunset, like shown in this image. But beware, the crowds are "impressive" and one must get there early in order to get a parking spot and a spot to get a clear view. There are few hotels nearby, but huge busses bring in hundreds of people. There are other sea stacks along the Great Ocean Road without the crowds of this location. The ocean is the Southern Ocean between Australia and Antarctica.
