Launched Nov. 7, 1996, MGS is now in orbit around Mars. If you ever have a chance to see a rocket launch, do so! I had seen many on television, but the real thing is an awesome experience. The closest analogy is to look at a tall building a few miles away, then imagine it taking off up into the sky propelled by fire nearly as bright as the sun and with a roar lower and louder than you've ever heard. The magnitude of the event is astounding.
