Aurora over Reykjavik, Iceland

Aurora over the city of Reykjavik, Iceland, September, 2016.

The aurora colors are yellow-green from oxygen emission at 557.5 nanometers at around 100 - 150 km altitude, and purple from nitrogen emission above that. Visually, the greens were pastel green, the purple was fainter and not distinguished from twilight.

Technical. The image was obtained with a Canon 6D 20-megapixel digital camera and a Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens (B&H).
with a single 8-second exposure at ISO 800, f/2.8 on the sky and reflection and an 8-second exposure at ISO 800, f/8 for the bright city lights. White balance is daylight. This is a slight crop: a little off the left egde for the clous and a little off the top, about 10%.
