Road runner. The road runners I have encountered are usually very fast and do not hang around for their picture. I grabbed the camera with the 500 mm lens and took a few pictures before the bird took off. The image stabilization allowed a very sharp image (see detail below) to be obtained. Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge.
Technical:
Canon 1D Mark II camera, 500 mm f/4 IS lens at f/4,
1/1600 sec at ISO 100, -1/3 stop, hand held.
Wild and free. No calls or bait were used to acquire this image.
