This Sandhill Crane had just taken off from the pond where it stayed all night. The temperature dropped to at least 12 degrees Fahrenheit (it was 12 degrees when I took this picture). The pond partially froze, and the birds legs had ice freezing around them. This bird still has ice on its legs. Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge.
